Dimagi Partners with the City of Philadelphia to Modernize Behavioral Health Care Coordination

The City of Philadelphia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS) has selected Dimagi to design and implement a new Unified Bed Registry that will modernize how behavioral health providers track bed capacity and coordinate patient placements across the city.

Philadelphia faces significant behavioral health challenges, including one of the highest overdose death rates among major U.S. cities. Today, the city’s nine Crisis Response Centers (CRCs) and approximately 20 contracted behavioral health providers coordinate patient placements through phone calls, fax, and manual logs. The Unified Bed Registry will replace these manual coordination processes with a shared view of behavioral health treatment capacity, giving providers more timely access to information needed to identify available placements and coordinate referrals.

A shared view of treatment capacity

The new platform will enable DBHIDS and participating providers to:

• Search for placements based on level of care, payer type, and accessibility needs
• View near real-time behavioral health treatment capacity across participating providers
• Coordinate electronic referrals between Crisis Response Centers and treatment facilities
• Monitor utilization and referral patterns through integrated reporting and dashboards

Registry data will integrate with the DBHIDS Enterprise Data Warehouse and support Tableau dashboards for monitoring utilization and referral patterns.
