Built for students
Since 2011, faculty have used CommCare to teach hands-on digital health, from the classroom to the field.

The Challenge
Digital health is hard to teach from slides; students only grasp it when they build it. Faculty need an affordable, classroom-ready way to go from concept to a working app.
Theory without practice
Lectures rarely give hands-on app-building experience.
Tools built for industry, not teaching
Most platforms are costly or complex for one semester.
Bridging classroom and field
Students learn on the same tools used in real deployments.

CommCare is the epicenter of our course, Using Mobile Technology to Improve Health Outcomes. Working with Dimagi since the course’s inception ten years ago, our graduate-student teams have built mobile applications for more than 40 healthcare organizations around the world.
It was a privilege to host Dimagi to talk about CommCare in my Health Communication course at Habib University in spring 2022. CommCare’s technological infrastructure and user-friendly design can be instrumental in reducing the gap between healthcare providers and communities.
